New Shopping Tool

They have this new shopping tool at my grocery store that is just great. I had seen it a couple of weeks ago but was too shy to try it. But today I had time so I thought I would check it out. The new device is a scanner that you can use to scan items that you put in your cart. At the front you scan your rewards card, get a scanner and pick up some grocery bags and a cart. You choose the items that you want and scan them and put them in a bag and go on to the next item. When you finish shopping, you go to any register including the self-check variety and scan a finished shopping bar code. This begins the download process into the register. You are allowed then to add any additional items, scan any coupons and then checkout and pay. It was so easy and since you pack your bags as you go, there is no need to bag your items.

I really like this new service. I will use it all the time now.

The Duchess

I got my Netflix movie, The Duchess on Saturday and I watched it last night. It was a great movie. I really enjoyed it. The theme really hit a nerve with me. One of the big ones was the sacrifice and obligation of women. Another integral theme was the double standard of what is appropriate for women versus men.
Nothing gets me more amped than this whole phenomenon. I hate that this exists. I hate that women can suffer so much. I hate that the standards are so much higher for women than men. I hate that women always deal with emotional sacrifice rather than physical sacrifice that men generally deal with. It makes being a woman less desirable and more emotionally draining.
Even though things have changed from the 18th or 19th century, I still feel that there are a number of things that haven't changed and maybe never will.

Machine Guns in the morning

I love get off the subway and being greeted by police officwrs in full riot gear carrying machine guns. It made me think, did I just get off in a Third World country?
Everytime I see something like that I think about an officer tripping, falling and killing someone by accident. It makes me feel so safe....
